All about Dartmouth Swimathon Why are we doing this?

We are looking for teams of 4 – 6 swimmers. Each team is given a lane of the 4 lane pool and will swim for 45 minutes. TEAM MEMBERS TAKE IT IN TURN TO SWIM JUST ONE LENGTH AT A TIME. On average this means that each swimmer does about 8 to 10 lengths during the 45 minutes but there is no need for each team member to swim the same number of lengths. As you only swim one length at a time you don’t have to be an especially strong swimmer, just confident in the water. If one of you is much stronger than the others that person could swim more lengths than their team mates. Every Team Member gets sponsorship for the TEAM’S TOTAL NUMBER OF LENGTHS SWUM which could be 60 lengths or more.

Who can take part? Everyone! Rotary Clubs – Charities – Families – Friends – Churches – Offices – Shops – Scouts and Guides – Cubs and Brownies – Swimming Clubs – Health Clubs – Schools and Colleges – Policemen – Firemen – Paramedics – Nurses and Doctors – Businesses, in fact anyone who is over 8 years of age on the day of the event.

Teams can claim 25% of their sponsorship to be used to support their named and valid charitable cause.

When entering a team the team captain must enter the team via the team entry page into a time and date which is not already booked by another team.

All instructions are on the pages following.

The Rotary club will claim the 25% Gift Aid from the sponsorship money pledged to use to support good causes.

The pool is a registered charity and survives mainly due to the dedication of a few volunteers .The heating, cost of materials ie: chemicals, maintenance, lifeguards and general administration all cost money and in years when the weather is bad income goes down but these costs do not.

By choosing this venue not only will Rotary be able to raise funds for charities but also promote the pools facilities to the community as a whole.

Finally please note that teams can only enter by online booking. If you have a query please e-mail us via our contact form (which will be answered within 24 hours) or phone Peter on 07798 766020.

Due to unforeseen circumstances this event has been cancelled

We hope to bring this event to Dartmouth really soon

Thank You.
